Healthy Eating

Children have a healthy, balanced menu. Allergies and dietary requirements are safely catered for and requiremtns of the EYFS are adhered to.  Children have a 2 course lunch, 2 snacks and high tea throughout the day. Seasonal vegetables grown by the children on the small plot in the garden show the children the whole process from seed to plate which are used during cooking activities within the rooms where the children create puddings, snacks etc with the help of staff.

Throughout the week, a variety of healthy snacks are provided such as ;

  • a selection of fresh fruit
  • salad sticks
  • pitta with vegetable or chickpea curry dip
  • cheese scones
 with a choice of fresh filtered water or milk.

The children enjoy regular cooking activities and learn about nutrition and the importance of a balanced diet.
We also look at staying healthy through daily exercise and activities such as 'Sticky Kids', ‘Change for Life’ and the ‘Healthy Hearts Happy Children’ programme.
