Healthy Eating

We have our own on-site kitchen with chef. We use fresh ingredients for our 2 course lunch and high tea. Seasonal vegetables grown by the children on the small plot in the garden show the children the whole process from seed to plate.

Sample 5 day lunch menu:

Monday:
Pilchard lasagne with salad sticks & garlic bread. Apple rice pudding

Tuesday:
Cheese & potato pie & salad sticks. Fresh fruit mousse.

Wednesday:
Roast chicken dinner. Rhubarb crumble & custard.

Thursday:
3 bean chilli & rice. Banana muffins.

Friday:
Fish pie with vegetables. Cherry shortbread.

At snack time we have fresh fruit and milk.

The children enjoy regular cooking activities and learn about nutrition and the energy we get from food.
We also look at staying healthy through daily exercise and activities such as little kickers football, ‘change for life’ and the ‘healthy hearts happy children’ programme.
